The Society is a member of the Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union and links through them to the PAGB. Members of the club may enter competitions organised by the LCPU, either as individuals or as part of a club entry. The LCPU also organise events which club members may attend – but there may be a charge for that and full details can be found on their website: www.lcpu-portal.org
L&CPU Knockout Competition 2020
The rules of this competition can be downloaded from the link above – but essentially the club can submit 8 images from no less than 4 authors – preferably more.
To update you on this competition, the club chose 1 image from each of 8 members who had submitted their own work for consideration: for details see below.

Titles and authors are as follows: Rutting Stags; Andrew Pringle / Red-Backed Shrike; Bob Thompson / Dark Green Fritillary; Derek Dixon / Reflected Autumn Glory; George Nasmyth / Terminal Light; John Pearson / Quad Racing; Paul Dunmall / Misty Light; Sonia Dunmall / Lights Out; Steve Marmion
The competition commenced at 19.00hrs on Saturday 21st November 2020 – because of a high entry only the first 4 images from each club were used. Of Ulverston’s entry 3 images went out in the first round: Rutting Stags, Red-Backed Shrike and Reflected Autumn Glory, being awarded only 1 point each, but Derek Dixon’s Dark Green Fritillary hung on until the final cut and scored 6 points. This meant that Ulverston finished joint 14th overall, out of 41 clubs with an entry. Congratulations to Derek.
